WESTOVER MISSIONS

Changing lives in Jesus’ name… without borders

MISSION POINTS

Under the guidance of the Missions Leadership Team, Westover supports the following missionaries and organizations (we call them Mission Points).

While Westover provides essential support in the form of annual financial commitments, these mission points also rely on us for prayer and encouragement. You can learn more about each mission point by visiting their website, following them on socials, or signing up for their newsletter. Feel free to contact and encourage them as you feel led.

If you have questions about any of these mission points or global missions broadly at Westover, please contact the Missions Leadership Team (missions@westover.org) any time. The Missions Leadership Team meets monthly on the 2nd Sunday.

  • Ghana, Northern Region (Yendi and Mion)

Westover has been involved in the Northern Region of Ghana since 1999. Westover Missions teams regularly visit this predominantly Muslim and sub-Saharan region of Ghana to teach in over 50 schools the fundamentals of Christianity and Christian values to prepare students for their Religious and Moral Education final examination.

Visiting teams from Westover have assisted schools in rebuilding damaged buildings, provided electricity to schools, and provided teaching materials to thousands of students and teachers and desks to hundreds of students. Westover members also support fresh water well drilling, farming, and medical care to residents in the far-reaching Yendi and Mion areas. Westover partners with local churches such as Yendi Church of Christ and ministers to assist them in their needs.

  • Levi Malone, with Light of East Africa

    Turkana, Kenya

The goal of Light of East Africa Missions is to share the gospel with unreached communities Kenya's Turkana region. Many villages in the area face water scarcity, so Light of East Africa builds water wells, providing access to clean drinking water, while simultaneously planting a church in the community. This creates a sustainable model for evangelism and opens a line of communication with the village to ensure the new water well stays maintained.

A unique approach to sustainable community outreach

Life is hard in northern Kenya and throughout much of East Africa without having to worry about your only source of clean water breaking down. Unfortunately it is too common of a site to come across broken and dry boreholes. The people of the nearby villages are unable to repair it themselves or come up with the funds to pay to have it fixed. They often resume life as it was before the well was drilled while hoping someone will come along and fix it.

Light of East Africa Missions takes a sustainable approach to keeping these communities in a position of continual development. In each region where we focus our operations we establish a mission center. Think of it as a forward operating base giving us a staging point in which to go out and reach even more remote areas. Each one of these mission centers is tasked with planting churches in those even more remote areas surrounding it. Every time we develop an area with access to clean water and a church it gives us eyes on the ground to allow us to know when issues arise and how the community as a whole is developing.

  • Robert & Jan Reagan

    Chiang Mai, Thailand

Robert & Jan Reagan are a part of a team that has planted five churches in Chiang Mai, Thailand since 1993. They are currently members of the Payap Christian Zone church, which began meeting in 2004 at the edge of the Payap University campus and aspires to be an example of a true family in Christ. At PCZ Robert intentionally encourages the church to let the Thai leaders lead. He tries to lift them up and support them without being "the boss who tells them what to do."

Robert's favorite ministry at PCZ is Friendship Week, a week-long "camp" with students from a school for Karen refugees near the Thai/Myanmar border. Friendship Week has two main goals: to teach the gospel so that everyone will grow closer to Christ and to form friendships with the students. Throughout the week, mornings are spent studying together, learning about Christ and how the Bible applies to our lives, and afternoons are spent experiencing things together in Chiang Mai and fellowshipping with one another. Friendship Week is conducted several times a year and Robert welcomes groups of 4-6 or 2-3 couples from Westover to come spend about 10-14 days in Chiang Mai to work and have fun with the students--all in English!

  • Local Church Leadership in Russia

This vibrant church began in the early ‘90s. The family we support are indigenous to Russia and the community. The head of this family has been an integral part of the leadership since 2004, and continues serving in the areas of leadership, pastoring and discipling throughout Russia. A year later they began a family focused outreach. As things progressed, additional efforts began to include the following programs offered to citizens across their community. These include marriage seminars, parenting seminars (children and teens), foster family seminars (foster children trauma and foster parenting skills), and a counseling ministry that address preparation for marriage as well as working with couples going through crises.

This ministry has become a family endeavor as well. Some of their older children, having grown up in the church, have now assumed leadership roles in working with youth and teen groups. Their emphasis includes living lives of faith in Russia and how to serve wholeheartedly wherever they live. The family continues to serve faithfully in all these capacities.

Christians in Russia who are not part of the Russian Orthodox Church are legally restricted in several activities of their faith, especially evangelism. Russian law characterize Christians and churches outside the Russian Orthodox Church as religious extremists, criminalizing the speech and activities of Russian Christians who faithfully witness for Christ. Christians in Russian-controlled areas outside the country face increased restrictions and suffer violence at the hands of those acting on behalf of the Putin regime. The family we support has no website and we are not including contact or identifying information for this reason. For more information about the mission work being done in Russia, please speak with a member of the Mission Leadership Team directly >> missionschair@westover.org

SHORT TERM MISSION TRIP OPPORTUNITIES

The following short term mission trip opportunities are coming up in 2026. Contact trip leaders directly to join the groups. If you are interested in spearheading a short-term missions trip and putting together a team from Westover, start by talking with the Missions Leadership Team, who can advise you further.

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Mission Trip

June 2-9, 2026

This is an exciting new opportunity for Westover to connect and work with teens in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Igreja da Vitoria Church of Christ in the heart of Rio de Janeiro has a growing sports ministry with Brazilian youth in the city. Over the years, Westover has supported the work of Igreja da Vitoria, and Jefferson Ché (the lead minister) for various projects and asks. We are excited to continue developing this relationship with a visiting team.

This June, Westover is helping lead a retreat for the youth program, for the purpose of helping teens connect with Christ and with one another, and as an outreach tool so that more young people learn about the work Igreja da Vitoria is going. All ages at Westover are invited to participate.

Talk with Ricky Mata (mata.ricardo.e@gmail.com) for more information or to save your spot.
