Jan. 07, 2003 Happy New Year, Everyone! We hope you all have enjoyed a great holiday time and are already making progress on the beginning of a great year! Our email service seems to have finished its holiday too. If you tried to email us recently, especially between Dec. 23 and Jan. 2, we probably did not receive your message. We know that some failed attempts to email us did not produce failure notices or "bounces" so you may think you got through when you didn't. Things seem to be working well again now though, so please try again on any attempted messages. The first of the year was a very nice day for the church at Yendi. Several area congregations got together at our building (the largest by far) and put on a play (entitled, "The battle belongs to the Lord, " - from Jehoshaphat's life - II Chronicles 20:1-30). Daniel portrayed one of the opposing army commanders. He died very well. The costumes were marvelous - whatever the Ghanaians thought would convey their role (one army commander wore sleeveless camo, most of the important people wore "fugu"s - the traditional Dagomba man's smock, King Jehoshaphat had an umbrella bearer, another tradition among the top chiefs here, and lots of folks had sunglasses!) Afterwards there was a meal for everyone (the cow was butchered very near our house, so we had to keep our dog Barkley in for days afterwards). Lots of other folks from the community came, including many clinic patients.
In Christ,
The Battle Belongs to the Lord!
