Mar. 29, 2002 Dear friends, We are again on Ghana's southern Coast, near the Village of Hope orphanage that we mentioned in our last newsletter. We are visiting with the missionaries there, and our Yendi co-workers the McVeys, who are leaving on their scheduled furlough this weekend. Shortly after our arrival here this afternoon, we learned that the recent trouble in Northern Ghana has made the CNN news ticker. I want to quickly let you to know that we are all fine, safe and comfortable in the south. There has truly been a lot of violence in Yendi since Monday. This has been focused around the paramount Chief's palace as it is in regard to a dispute as to who should be chief. We never felt that we or our area was threatened, but we decided it would be best to begin the trip south on Wednesday. The PHCW students that we were teaching felt very strongly that they should return to their homes away from Yendi, so class was dismissed early. Few people were coming to the clinic, so there was little reason to stay in Yendi. Please pray that peace will return quickly to Yendi and for our work to return to normal. Again, we are now far away from the trouble. In the service of the King, |
