Peru Orphanage

Communidad de Ninos Sagrada Familia is a community of children in the outskirts of Lima, Peru.  There are over 900 children from babies to teens living here under the guidance of Miguel Rodriquez.  These children have been abandoned by their families, brought here by the police or sent from the courts, or they have found their way here after living on the streets. They have become a family!

Westover became involved 5 years ago after taking a small group of members to minister to the children.  As the number of children in the community has grown our team has grown.  We were able to take a group of over 100 team members in July 2011, many of them from Westover to share Bible stories, play games, give hugs and create memories.
Westover also has been given the opportunity to help Miguel with money to feed the children.  It only takes $ 1.70 per day to feed a well balanced meal to a child at the community.  But, when you have over 900 children to feed each day, the $1,530 per day or $45,900 per month or $551,000 per year is overwhelming!  Miguel receives no government support to run the orphanage, but he continues to accept children.

God has blessed us with a unique relationship with these children in Peru. We continue to send money each month to help with food costs.  We also have a very close relationship with the children through our prayers, letters, and yearly visits.  The money you donate, goes directly and only for food so that these children stay healthy, learn in school and feel the love and teaching of Jesus Christ.

It is our long term goal at Westover or in partnership with others to provide funding to feed every child in the orphanage three meals per day.

Come join us on our next trip, July 13th!
