What are CARE Groups?

The identifying mark of a Christian community is a place of love. But beyond the words of love and the statements about family must come…

-Sharing of love with each other.

-Showing acts of kindness and encouragement during times of hardships and difficulty.

-Challenging each other to growth in the Lord.

-Restoring broken relationships and broken lives to full fellowship.

While worship and fellowship is vital in a large fellowship such as Westover, many of these needs can best be met in a smaller, more intimate setting where we know and are known by each other.

We believe this objective is best accomplished through small groups we will call CARE Groups. These groups will help us:
-Build Community
-Let faith be demonstrated in Action through ministry and service
-Finding Renewal of our spirits through Bible Study and Prayer
-Evangelizing others to Jesus by reaching out to the lost and broken and to the newly found in the life of our church.

CARE Groups consist of…

Small Group Bible Study
Generally meeting in homes, Small Group Bible Study CARE Groups consist of approximately 12-15 people who meet weekly for the purpose of outreach oriented Bible study following a set curriculum of study.
242 Groups
Based on Acts 2:42 (they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer), 242 CARE Groups meet together to share insights gained from following a common Bible reading plan as well as for prayer, personal accountability and support. 242 Groups are great for breakfast, lunch or office Bible study groups.
Family CARE Groups
Family CARE Groups exist to enable parents to become more personally involved in the spiritual training and development of their children. These groups of 2—3 families, meet weekly and follow a set curriculum that involves both parents and children in Bible learning and ministry to others. A daily family reading program is also included.
Ministry Groups
Ministry CARE Groups are composed of Westover members who are involved in the same area of ministry. By nature, ministry groups spend a great deal of their time in carrying out ministry objectives and goals. The CARE dimension is added to such groups through including a time of prayer and devotion in these meetings as well as encouraging each other to regular Bible study.
